A Small business guide

Email lists are still the best source of conversions for the majority of Ecommerce businesses, and increasing its numbers is the bread and butter of digital marketers. Once you have it however, are you sure you’re making the most of it?

It was hard to choose just six programs to start with, and we’re definitely missing some popular contenders. While Salesforce (Exact Target) won its battles on the strength of its features, its premium level pricing puts it out of reach of smaller businesses.

GetResponse is our choice for power at great value for money, though MailChimp comes close behind, and has a simpler interface for those who want the most intuitive program.

Dotmailer was a little mysterious – the features looked great, but without clearer pricing information evaluating the value (especially for a relatively new program) wasn’t easy.

Bringing up the rear were ConstantContact and MailChimp or GetResponse. They both have some nice niche features around social media integration, so are worth a look if that’s important to you.

Our favorite low-cost option in the category, GetResponse is very reasonably priced for lots of juicy features, such as landing page creation, sophisticated workflow automation, and split testing.
